20 September 2018 – Disability Pride Workshop – Norfolk Record Office

On Thursday September 20th, we joined up with Norfolk Record Office staff for a Disability Pride event at the Archive Centre, where people had a chance to hear about the project and see the original records. Thanks to Georgina Brabender, Richard Johnson and Maggie Simmons who shared their experience of the project, including current research following individual patients through time. It was great to meet people who told us about life in the asylums and on the wards from the 1960s to now as staff and patients.

16 September 2018 – Heritage Open Days Workshop – Kings Lynn Borough Archives

On Sunday September 16th, County Archivist Gary Tuson, Laura and volunteers Georgina Brabender and Jonathan Yull were on hand for a Change Minds drop in during the Kings Lynn Heritage Open Day. 340 people came, including people who had once worked as psychiatrists, social workers, nurses, cleaners and office staff on the St Andrew’s Hospital site, and others whose relatives were patients, or who were using mental health services themselves. It’s looking good for a Change Minds in Kings Lynn.
