21st September. A quick update…..

Our first session is on 1st October – from 10am to 1pm at Norfolk Record Office. Helen and Jon, along with Together Wellbeing Workers, have been meeting people who are interested in Change Minds and enrolling them on the project.

Helen and Jon have done a lot of work on getting the right documentation for participants. That includes the enrolment form, a Wellbeing Plan and consents to share information and for photography. We are also sharing risk assessments with Together, based on people’s informed consent.

A group of 20 people who are staff or volunteers working on Change Minds did a day’s Good Clinical Practice training, provided by Norfolk and Suffolk Foundation Trust. This certificated course sets out the parameters for safe, effective health research so it underpins our social psychology and clinical outcomes research and evaluation programmes.

Helen and Jon are also going to do an informal training session about mental health for everyone involved in the project who can come along, so that participants, volunteers, consultants and staff can feel confident about working together.

Our Research Panel has had several bouts of editing the questionnaires and consent forms we plan to use during the project. These have been developed by Dr Vicky Scaife who is doing our evaluation and it has been an interesting process sorting out what we need to find out, how we invite people to take part, and how we gather the information.

We’ve got two excellent volunteers coming onto Change Minds. Elizabeth Figura-Drane is the new National Archive Heritage Lottery Fund Skills for the Future placement at Norfolk Record Office and she will be working with us throughout her time at NRO, focussing particularly on learning. Sarah Mayo is an English undergraduate at the University of East Anglia and will be our go-to digital communications person.

And finally, the late 19th century case books at the heart of Change Minds have been selected – just two red bound volumes from hundreds in the collection. They are being digitised and now the archivists and Helen are collaborating to identify a group of cases as a starting point for participant research.
