Session Ten – 24th April 2016 – The Belfry Arts Centre

Celebration and Creativity

The Change Minds group came together for the last session this term at The Belfry Arts Centre in Overstrand.  A slightly longer day from 10-4pm with painting, poetry and a lunchtime celebration with a lovely lunch sandwiches and cake!

The morning began with Nora Gaston, artist, who led the visual creative workshop with participants creating their books, painting, using images from magazines, printing words and incorporating objects into their work.  Martin Figura, poet and writer spent time with each participant to type up their poems.

A well-earned lunchtime celebration for the Change Minds group with posh sandwiches and homemade cake.

Near to the end of the session, the group finished working and exhibited their books for everyone to see. A time to discuss and reflect on the journey so far, to look at work created and nice memories made.  We spent time looking at each persons artwork, talking about their work and read aloud their poem to applause and some lovely feedback from the group.  There was an enormous sense of achievement felt around the room.

Looking forward to meeting up with the Change Minds group for our final term, returning to The Norfolk Record Office on Thursday 21st April 2016 for an introduction to the Norfolk Sound Archive as well as a trip to Gressenhall Museum later in the term.
